Good Morning
GOOD MORNING
It’s early morning in the garden and at first glance, you’d notice these fuzzy purple flowers popping out of gray-green leaves. Get REALLY close up, and there appear so many shades of color, and each petal is its own distinct shape. You’ve gotta get on your knees once in a while, so not to miss such magnificence in miniature.
I painted three 10-inch square paintings this spring. This is one of them, along with “White Crocuses” and “Tulips & Hyacinths.” There is something about how a square defines space that attracts me. Painting this small of a canvas made me want to exaggerate the size of the flowers…an artist’s act of defiance.
Later I discovered these are called Pasque Flowers.
