AFRICAN LADY

I was asked to do a painting for a fundraiser to assist in building schools for kids in Darfur. Photos of village life and  people were available to use as reference. Many prominent local figures attended the night of the silent auction.  A number of our Colorado-relocated Lost Boys of Sudan spoke, sang and danced. One of them told me he remembers this woman and said she was likely waiting at the well. I was captivated by her tired dignity.
